Portraits

These pictures are of my family and my best friend, Lily.
I took the pictures of my family in my backyard, because I really like the woods in the background. I took the one of my Dad in the kitchen when he wasn't expecting it. The one of Lily was in her kitchen.
I took the one of Lily after school, when we were making fries in the oven. Lily is a super talented amazing singer, so she sings whenever she can. Even when making fries in the oven. She was singing and didn't know I was going to take a picture of her, so that's why she isn't smiling or such in her picture. I took the one's of my family one night after school, so everyone was pretty tired, and my brother wasn't really in the best mood..if you could tell from the pictures. The one of my mom was from when we went to downtown  Portland one weekend. I chose these people because I wanted to take pictures of people I really care about. My family was helpful for this, and they did what I asked them to do. Lily is my best friend, so I obviously wanted a picture of her because I care for her a lot. Everyone was really cooperative for me.

Self Portraits

I wanted this self portraits to be a reflection of a sort of darker side of me, cause I am not a very dark person so I thought it would be interesting to see my in that view. Although I am smiling in most of these, I wanted the background to be sort of darker and my makeup was a lot darker than usual so that was what I was trying to use. The picture of me in the vanity mirror was too reflect that people think I am really narcissistic, so in the mirror I am not wearing any makeup, and the bigger picture in the mirror was of me wearing a lot of makeup, giving into what people expect of me. Anyway, so that's my explanation of things. I hope you like these pictures!

Web Assignment #5

1. Beauty is anything that makes you view something in a different way. A photo that makes you think is beautiful.
2. Characteristics are interesting point of views, interesting and new ways to view things.
3. Yes. Something "ugly" can be photographed beautifully. Well actually, since beautiful is in the eye of the beholder, it is all subjective and who am I to say what is what.
4. For example, a warthog is mostly considered ugly, but you can capture a warthog in its best moments (like a mommy warthog sheltering her babies) and find it beautiful! (I always think they are beautiful.. I love animals.)
